Koi Pond Portfolio - 7500 gallons, West Sussex

This superb 7500 gallon pond was re-built over a few months in 2008 by Nippon Nishikigoi. The existing pond was structurally unstable and all of the above ground walls was replaced and raised complete with a viewing window and the pond extended with completely new filtration. The pond is built using traditional block and brick walls, rendered and fibreglassed and capped with purple slate tiles cut to follow the contours of the pond walls. Covered in full by a pergola topped with polycarbonate the pond is protected from the ellements and this also prevents the rain affecting the water parameters. The ponds filtration is 2 Ultrasieves from bottom drains, 2 double Bakki Showers fed by 4 seperate pumps, 1 Eazy POD on one skimmer and 1 Nexus 200 on the other skimmer. All of the filtration is concealed in two filter bays at each end of the pond. With a total of six pumps the turnover is colossal and this pond is an ideal environment for the development of the serious nishikigoi within it. The pond is also heated using a gas boiler and heat exchanger and also benefits from the addition of Reverse Osmosis. We also re-landscaped the garden around this pond, complete with a new lawn and slate chipping areas.
