Koi Pond Portfolio - 2000 gallons, West Sussex

This unusual looking pond is in fact a 2000 gallon quarantine pond built for one of our clients in 2008. Quarantine systems should be built to the same if not better specification of a main pond, and this is no exception. The pond itself is inside an unused garage at the end of the garden and built using the conventional system of concrete blocks, the pond was then lined out with polyurethane foam before fibreglassing. The filtration is an ultrasieve midi, EazyPOD from the bottom drain and a 3 teir Bakki Shower. The pond is circulated by 3 pumps and heated by gas and heat exchanger. Artificial lighting is provided in the form of a metal halide light unit which emits a very white light and supplemented by aquarium light tubes. Quite clinical in appearance, this pond is not meant to be an ornamental feature but by design a functional system to hold high class koi during the quarantine period. A small viewing window is present to monitor the koi in the system without the need for netting.
