Koi Pond Portfolio - 10000 gallons, Kent
One of the finest ponds that we have ever built this 10000 gallon pond was built and landscaped in 2007. There was a large circular goldfish pond on the site of this pond which was removed and excavated to create a 7ft deep koi pond. Built using conventional concrete block, the pond was lined out with polyurethane foam before fibreglassing. The walls are clad with rustic brick and capped with sandstone. The granite rock in water design uses a concrete and fibreglassed shelf and this softens the rear half of the pond. The filtration is provided by one Nexus 300 on two bottom drains, one EazyPOD on another bottom drain and a bead filter on the skimmer line to provide fine particle removal. This is all contained within the purpose built filtration house to the rear of the pond, complete with a slate roof. The raised planting bed between the filter house and pond also has a blue-grey granite & slate waterfall with surrounding Japanese planting to soften. Other features include granite set detail to the wall capping and night lighting.
